It began at 6am in a Northern Irish yard, where Charlene – mum, horse rider, and engineering lecturer – stood with aching fingers, a frozen lead rope, and clothes that just didn’t cut it for the demands of outdoor equestrian work. Driven by the need for practical, weather protective, and stylish riding gear for women, Charlene created the Equisuit® to support riders in real-world weather, from frosty mornings to muddy fields.

“I was layered in three different fleeces and an old waterproof that didn’t fit right,” Charlene recalls. “And I remember thinking – why does dressing for horse life feel like dressing for a survival course? I hated the thought of putting on a light base layer and jodhpurs. It just didn’t cut it! I wanted something that was easy, functional, and suited my busy working life as both a female rider and a mum.””

It was in that moment, surrounded by ponies and practicality, that a seed was planted: what if there was something better? Something made for riders like her – busy women who lived at the intersection of school runs, office meetings, and mucky boots.
